Parker's first graders celebrated the Chinese New Year be getting rid of all of the bad spirits in the school. They spent a long time in the library and went to all the corners and storage rooms banging their noise makers and having a a great time.

The Book Fair Blizzard was a real success. We scheduled it around pay day!

We had a Tall Tale night where the seniors came in dressed up to tell the kids tall tales they had written themselves. The children were enthralled - we might do this again.

Weekends at the library!

It is now Sunday afternoon and Tom and I are at school. Sunday afternoon is my favorite time to work - I get so much done cause everyone is at home taking it easy.

We had Hoops Fest this week - Eighteen teams came in by snow machine or airplane from surrounding communities and played basketball for four day days - ending up with a dance last night from 8 until midnight where I was one of the chaperones. Chevak girls and boys won the tournament. Basketball is really high on the agenda at this school. Well, I won't even go there. All the teams spent their nights in the classrooms - lots of disruption, teachers unable to get their work done, we called off school Friday and had an in-service day instead. The kids were on the computers in the library from the time they got here on Wednesday until Friday around 6pm when I just had to lock the door. Every one is just worn out. See, the teachers needed to volunteer to make food for the coaches room, monitor crowd control, the tickets, etc. And there are not that many of us... The dance was fun though - it was great seeing all the kids relaxed and having fun and meeting kids from other communities. That music though - ugh!!!
